My husband and I are lucky enough to both come from families that took tons of photos of us as kids. So for a recent birthday of his, I enlisted the help of his parents and collected a series of photos of us for a 30 Year Birthday Book.
The idea is simple enough: one photo from each year of our lives, placed next to each other to see a snapshot of both of us growing up:
For important years, like the year we started dating and the year we got married, the photos feature us together rather than a comparison of us in our separate lives:
And for our years together, we found similarly-themed photos of our lives together, even if we weren’t actually in the photo together:
This project required some amount of digging through old photos and scrapbooks, as well as scanning photos from our pre-digital life, but it was really a fairly simple project in comparison to most scrapbook projects. Adding the year in the corner (text style Lithos Pro in White with Black Shadow) was about as complicated as it got but I loved the result (and I think my husband did, too). In fact, I’m already planning to make a similar book when we turn 60.
